We at Short Funeral Services and Berry-Short Funeral Homes continue to remain vigilant in exercising personal and professional responsibility in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. In accordance with the guidelines put forth by the CDC; federal, state, and local government; OSHA; and the National Funeral Directors Association, we have established the following policies to best serve our community.

  • In order to adhere to revised local regulations and recommendations, masks may be worn at your discretion for the health and safety of the families we serve as well as those in attendance. For more information, visit de.gov/coronavirus 
  • We will provide the option to conduct funeral arrangement conferences over the phone and via email when appropriate. Our dedication to our community will not waver. We will continue to closely monitor this pandemic and will follow the recommended response(s) from the appropriate authorities. We can each do our part to combat the spread of this virus and we hope that everyone in our community will take the necessary steps to safeguard themselves, their families and the fellow members of our community.

Under the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021 and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, FEMA is providing financial assistance for COVID-19 related funeral expenses incurred after January 20, 2020.
